Thats just in the stock ecu placement, it seems very strange to have issues with that since the firewall is double thickness with a pocket of air there too?

Sab, that seems to be a funny place for the tps...

Yes, but add aftermarket headers and the OEM insulation is not enough.

Sab, if you do have overheating issues and you don't want to move it, I have some left-over header-wrap that you can stuff in-between the firewall and the PNP. It'll do the trick.

zoomzoom... yeah you're right, the TPS is sitting all the way near the dipstick, how in the world can it be there? Did you install some sort of dipstick relocation kit?.... 8)

I've got a turbo dump pipe on the other side of that compartment and I've never had an overheat issue with anything I've placed there.

But if you do, there's a heap of room behind the glovebox.
Huh?

My car has now been MegaSquirted and I am a very happy chappy.
Not a single thing went wrong.
Thank you very much Tinscfi and Saboteur for your advice and positive reinforcement
I like how it glows with LEDs, and it will be a shame to cover it up under the carpet.

Well done Andrew, now comes months /years of modifying tables based on dodgy info to make the beastie run better. Don't know how much extra power I have due to MS, but it sure is a fun journey!

when i originally got mine (not a PNP, a diy kit) i was gonna do a parallel install but since i've removed the aircon that doesn't make as much sense anymore. so thinking i'll go standalone.

what is a fair price to pay for the ecu connector block so i can wire it up without having to cut into the oem harness?

also are there any other drawbacks or complications with going standalone, do i need to buy any additional stuff?

I actually haven't seen the connectors lying around - I ended up buying a bung ECU from MX-5 Plus and desoldering the connector from the PCB.
