spoungy brakes post track day

Hey guys after the latest track day my brakes are pretty spoungy. the fluid is dot 4 and 2 track days old as well as about 6k of road driving. I am going to replace it on the weekend but i was just wondering if you guys think that it would be the reason for the spoungy feeling. I have brand spanking slotted rotors and bendix ultimates with plenty of life in them. I have tried a few pretty firm applications and they seem to be as deglazed as they are going to get. I hope its that and not bent callipers.

What fluid are you going to use? You might need to look at something like Castrol SRF if you are tracking regularly. There are some other options that people say are better than the SRF, but I can't remember them.

its the expensive motul stuff from mania - i think its that 600 sf something something.

I also got some oil last night - castrol edge sport 3w 30. is that any good or should I have got 10w 60?

I think that is supposed to be fairly good stuff; I'm surprised you have cooked it so quickly.

Ahhh, I see. Makes more sense that the normal poo is fecked after 2 track days. :mrgreen:

i have the rbf600 and bendix ultimates.on my na6 brakes the ultimates were the weak link, i was having brakepad dramas after every track day - they got all glazed up etc.. deglaze the pads and the brakes were great again - so it isn't the fluid. since upgrading to na8 brakes i went with ultimates again and i think it wasn't a good choice. 1 track day and my brakes are'nt as good as they were before. i haven't had a chance to pull the pads out as yet, but i'm pretty sure my current brakes woes will be caused by the pads not the fluid. i'm planning to pull the pads out this weekend so i'll let you know how i go.

i think forced induction cars need better pads than what NA cars can get away with - we are coming into the corners a bit hotter so need more stopping power. so i think some proper race type pads are on the cards for me now on.

i changed the fluid just then and they are still spoungy!! the fronts are still pretty well glazed - would this be causing the spoungy feeling or would it be something else? how should I de glaze the disks? Can I try to get rid of it with light sanding or is that a no no?
