order made & should be here within a week as usual by the UK mob :)

MazSpeed mounts have arrived quickly from Mania :)

transaction details finalised with Richard & hopefully the NB6 engine will be at my mechanics by end of the week?

means my car can go in the week after to have the work all done.

phew.. the down time means i can give my propellor cap a rebuild.

Finally brought MarioKart to the mechanic today. I really think the engine is very close to dieing haha, started making the same noise in the recording just one street away from mechanic. Then noise disappeared..

With MarioKart at the hospital, little Tenchu has a place under the carport to sleep for a while :)

the JDM NB6 engine actually makes 125hp from memory compared to the UK NB6 at 115hp. If you've got the JDM Engine you are in luck!

but the NA6 electronics wouldn't let the engine make that power though?

anyway, operation has hit bit of a snag. the NB6 engine comes with multi rib pulleys at the crank & waterpump. the NA6 alternator pulley is a V belt & the multi rib alternator pulley that was suppplied with the engine can't fit on the NA6 alternator as the shaft size is different. any ideas peeps?

did any of the NA6 or even NA8s (or 323s/Lasers) come with an alternator using multi rib pulleys? interchangeable pulleys that can fit on the earliest NA6 alternator?

update: engine is in! only waiting on the alternator now. crikey, this mechanic is quick!

How did the engine swap go?

My engine is dying due to the shortnose issue and need to replace as you have already seen.

Did you end up going with an aftermarket ecu?

went fine. stuck with the original NA6 ecu. dyno afterwards at 64 rwkw so makes same power as before.

SOrry to bump such an old thread, but what did you end up doing with the alternator pulley issue?

The NB6 engine was supplied from MX5 Plus with a required pulley for the alternator. The pulley itself isn't the right shaft size for the stock NA6 alternator.

So I sourced a 2nd hand alternator from a KF/KH Ford Laser which came with the wrong pulley (different grooves) but more importantly the correct shaft size which the replacement pulley from MX5 Plus fitted on.
