I just had a look at the details for the Austin Healey Club's Brass Monkey Run, and think it's not particularly suited to MX5 driving. It's mostly a 7am run up the F3, without as many interesting twists or turns as I'd like.
I am proposing another, informal, \"Ice-berg\" run to be held on July 13, to cater to the twisty/turny needs of MX5 drivers, and please, weather permitting, NO ROOFS!
6am sharp departure from the Hungry Jacks carpark on the corner of Mulgoa Rd and Blaikie Rd, Penrith.
Route is (~130km):
Up the mountains via the M4/Great Western Hwy, to Springwood. (18km)
Follow Hawkesbury Rd back down to Richmond. (25km)
From Richmond, take Bells Line of Road to Bell. (61km)
From Bell, to Megalong Valley Tea House for breakfast. (27km)
The roads are all sealed. Most have a few hairpins, and the views are quite special.
The Megalong Tea House does hot breakfasts from 9am, so if you are interested in participating in this run, please let me know a little in advance so I can let the Tea House know how many cars and people to expect.

Jimi.
If you are prepared to do an informal run, why not volunteer to do a formal run for the MX5 car club at some stage in the future. We are always looking for members to put on a run and show off some of the roads they like to drive. Maybe you could map something out for our first run in the New Year that would give you plenty of time to plan it. Cheers

Willing, will confirm if able.
Hurricane, having organised a few events with my other club i'd be happy to contribute some ideas, although most of our cruises have been variations on familiar themes / Bells Line, Putty/Broke/Old Pac, National Park, Macquaire Pass etc.

Good to see such interest! Feel free to invite others who might not be on this forum (or might not drive MX5s). The more, the merrier.
Hurricane: I'd be glad to for January. My only concern is that the trips I regularly do have been pretty thoroughly travelled already by the MX5 club within the last 12 months (i.e. National Park + South coast around Wollongong).
Mind you, I have a few ideas further afield on the western side of the Mountains (but a pretty fair drive out of Sydney).
