super urgent help needed

I am changing over my disks at the moment and have run into my first problem. the new disks are too thick to fit in the caliper. how do I re set the height of the cylinder?

Use an old pad & a G-clamp.

Sounds to me like the pistons need to be pushed back in the caliper- you can do this by using a lever, screw driver or the like. When you change pads for example on most cars the pistons need to be retracted to get the new pads in a thicker new disc is\" taking up more room\"

DO NOT PUSH BACK THE REAR PISTONS :!:

They must be adjusted using an allen key. Access to the allen head screw is under a blanking bolt.

thanks guys - crisis avoided. I managed to find instructions on miata dot net. just wondering though I have reversed in the undercover carpark the car is in and tried the brakes out. they are a little underwhelming is this because the front pistons need to settle or will the bedding process improve them?

Make sure the rears are adjusted. Then you'll have to bed them in by doing a few heavy brake applications without fully stopping. Some info here http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=85
