NC Exhaust Research - Racing Beat? Other Suggestions?

Doing exhaust research for my NC 6MT

The Racing Beat item for the NC sounds promising (deep quiet tone at idle/low speed, louder on Wide Open Throttle). Any comments on RB gear? Any other suggestions welcome!

So: according to the above website:

Racing Beat exhaust is approx. 15% louder than stock, nice deep tone (like Mazdaspeed exhaust) but same weight as OEM item.

Good-win racing's Roadster exhausts currently come in 3 flavours, all free flowing designs that claim an approx. 8hp gain (obviously a max hp dyno measurement) - Race, RoadSter II and Q style. All are nearly half the weight of the OEM exhaust!

The Q style appeals to me the most: deep tone, only 10% louder than standard. I prefer to hear sound from the engine bay, rather than the rear of the car. But before you label me 'soft', i do alot of freeway miles, so this has some impact on my decision making.

According to Good-win Racing the Mazdaspeed item is approx. 30% louder than standard, and the Borla and Magnaflow items require some cutting of the OEM exhaust to fit, so are not purely 'plug & play' items & also not removable/resaleable.

i hear racing beat make one of the quietest exhausts on the market.. not very noticeable which is what probably deterred me from using their exhausts.

i'm not too sure whether these guys have developed one for the NC yet, but try www.smb.net.au

i second remus. excellent quality build but with a hefty price tag.
i can't brain today.. i have the dumb..

rwf got a locally made cat-back system that he is happy with.
Mazlot has something that ends in twin, mid-mounted pipes. very nice.

Yeah Sliq, there's definitely a bit of 'bling' to them. Not sure about the functionality of the arms...I don't know if the tips are for sound attenuation purposes...can't tell from the photos if the inner tube is perforated :| . I guess I don't really care though because it's for the race car. 8)

SO, at least one supplier in the US has told me that the Goodwin items do not bolt directly to RHD cars... is there really a difference between the mufflers on LHD vs RHD NC's?

Looking for NC owners who have experience with the Goodwin Roadster exhausts. Curious to know what freeway noise is like, and what the 'seat of the pants' dyno tells you. I'd be happier with a deeper tone and crisper throttle response (the only real let down of the NC IMHO). Also, what are the removable baffles like to, well, remove?

I've had mine for about six months now. Some days I find it a little loud when the top is up. You don't hear too much until it hits 4000 and combined with the CAI, it screams from 5000. I have tried without the baffles for a while, then just one side, but found it a tad loud.

No problems with the fitting, bolts straight on. Does it make the car go faster? I think so, because it sounds so much faster :P

This thread is from 2008 or thereabouts.

Just looking to have it updated and to see what is available for NCs these days. I like the one into two mufflers from ORX626 can you get these in Australia readily or can they be made up Sydney?

I did see a similar thread late last year thought but havent been able to find it in search.

Double mufflers on a blue NC from QLD I think.

I had a quote from a local well respected muffler guy that was still very pricey yet about $400 cheaper than the Goodwin system.
I am still reluctant after hearing talk of so many 'name' systems that suffer drone.

I have the Roadster Q from Goodwin on my 2005 NC, combined with AEM CAI, it all sounds real good. not excessive.

Goodwin are in USA and price is $409- for the muffler plus about $250- freight, total $659.00.

MXMania are selling exact same muffler at AUD$1100-+ freight from Qld, so it cannot be said that the Goodwin is expensive.

Am looking at doing same to my 2010 Series 2 NC and can get the Roadster Q and AEM CAI for approx AUD$1000- inc. freight from USA..... which is still cheaper than just the muffler from QLD.

I didnt fit the muffler but looks like it was an easy install.

"Best Mufflers" have the Remus at AUD$795- which is cheaper than the Roadster Q if sourced in Aus. but still more expensive than the Roadster Q if you buy it from Goodwin in USA
