SE and new tyres?

SE and new tyres?
Hi there guys,
I'm sure this has been discussed before, however any comments on which tyre for standard 17\" on an SE.
I currently have flogged a set of RT615's (lasted legally for only 6 months/10k) and need a replacement. Not looking for the falkens again, as I would prefer more life from them!!
I have in mind
- bridgestone RE001
- Michelin PP2
- Toyo TR1
- other suggestions????
Something for (very spirited) city driving, rare track day, good wear rate, firm side-wall, yet comfortable on Sydney's shitty roads (dont care about noise).
Any suggestion, particularly from uses of multiple types of brands.

I've got the PP2s on my car, much better handling than either the standard Toyo Trampios that came on it new or the Yoko AVS ES-100's I had on it after the Toyos. I did replace the soft-as-solder Racing Harts with the standard NB8B 16's so it's not a fair comparison. 16's and PP2s or Yokos are a long way ahead of 17's and toyos for handling, particularly on a slightly bumpy surface.
I got about 40k out of the first lot of the PP2's before they got too close to the wear indicators for comfort. They were always great in the wet or dry. I haven't used them on the track, but hearsay suggests they might get a bit squirmy when hot.

Agreed, the 17" PP2's deliver a better handling drive in the dry and wet compared to the 17" OEM toyo's. The 17" OEM toyo's are a little bit more comfortable then the 17" PP2's when it comes to bumpy surfaces.

Wasnt that long ago i rotated mine @ 10k, plenty of meat left on them.

I am running the 205s.
If your looking for info as to why wider tyres do not give you better grip, have a looksy here
If you plan on lowering the car with 17"s, know that 215/40s will increase the inward and outer widths by 5mm each.

That club run you let me drive on was sure fun!
That was on my final set of Yokos a week before they were replaced. Yepp, getting a little hairy by then. Hey but you got the experience of going sideways down Mount Dandenong.
