Repairing clear coat

Postby stevesports » Sun May 18, 2008 6:33 pm

It appears that a chunk of my clear coat is missing, along with a few other issues.

on my left door, it appears to be a small indentation, oval in shape around 6cm in height and 2cm in width. In that area, on the right side, there is a small crack in the paint. Also within the indentation, the clear coat is missing. Now i can get some touchup paint for the small cracks and hopefully smooth it out, however what can i do about the clear coat?

cheers

steve

Stevesports- if you go to your local paint supplier they will probably take a look and tell you what you need. My local is always very helpful and you can buy products in spray cans which are user friendly. They will be able to match your colour as well. If you give an idea where you are someone will suggest a supplier- no point in saying my bloke say in Frankston when you are in Thornbury. Also you can find lots of repair info in books and probably on line. If you have to go to a pro to do it for you costs start escalating quickly. The one true maxim about painting is its all about the preparation.
