SM, it was built to all applicable ADR's of the time, however the owner mothballed it in late 2004 when he moved house and I spent too much time flying around Australia visiting big holes in the ground :| .

I haven't been game to ask whether he'd like to kick start the project again as I really don't have the time at the moment..the Renesis NC project being just one reason. The B6's ADR emissions compliance is no longer current (hasn't been for a few years), so we would need to look at another engine...maybe the Duratec out of an NC :idea: .

It was 90% finished, all it needed was the wiring and interior trim completed. Even the beaming and torsion testing had been completed :? .

Wow! good stuff :)

The clubman thing is just to see if it can be built economically and accurately at this stage, none of the off the shelf chassis kits would fit my lard arse

:idea: Hey, how about we B&T test the NC before and after you put the cage in. Also, I'd love to test the NA8 stock, then with the TB roll bar and then with the FM Brace frame. Whose B&T rig is that? (You should build your own... :lol: )

It's coming together well Caffeine :D . So how much does it weigh so far?

Maybe we should start a thread for solidworks models of automotive componentry that we have either drawn or found on the net? What do you guys think?

Hrmmm.. SolidWorks says 62 kilos!

The book says it should weigh ~35 pounds in the state it's in...

I changed the weldment profile from 2mm wall thickness to 1.6mm, but that didn't have an effect.

Perhaps solidworks is calculating it based on solid tube!

Is the tube cross-section 25 x 25 x 1.6mm?....35lbs is only 16kg!!

Yep, I think it's missing a 1, 135 pounds makes a lot more sense...

I checked with solidworks, a 1 foot long length of my weldment profile came to 375 grams, which matches nicely with this list, which says 1 lineal foot of 1in by 1in, .063in square tube weighs 0.827lb, which is 375.12g :D

I just tried a solidworks model version of me (thanks to www.dpcars.net, which has a downloadable human body model suitable for checking layout / clearance in cars), in the standard 'book' chassis.

I think I'm going to need to expand things a fair bit!
