Yep I do it from the top and use an oil filter wrench cap that bolts onto my torque wrench

Last time I did it I got frustrated and ended up with cuts all down my arm

took me ages to get my first filter off first time around but you learn quickly not to overtighten the buggers. now comes off with the left hand alone with relative ease. 8)

Last time i have changed it with 90 dollar mobil1, i forgot to put the plastic gasket on the filter, and what happened when i start the engine? a pool of mobil 1 under my car....

make sure you have the ruber gasket on the oil filter. :)

Believe it or not, there IS a reason why they made these things.

You're in Brisbane right? Or was that someone else with a similar forum-name
if you are in Brissie, then you are more than welcome to borrow mine.

Yeah
I am from brissy area

I tried to strap type ones and bought one that bolts onto the end of the filter but as it turns out it is too big

Dodgy Day down at Jules's place this Sunday
check the MX5events section. There is absolutely no better place to remove oil-filters than Jule's garage.
