Well after having the Stebel horn in my boot for over a month, I finally managed to get time to go to Mania and have it installed.
Luckily I got Mania to do it. Where it would normally go in a NB, the Stebel Nautilus Compact wouldn't fit in my SP. The intercooler robbed most of the free space behind the bumper where the OEM horms are located, which is where the Stebel would have gone in.
Instead, David had to remove my bumper assembly. Then spend a few minutes trying to find a suitable spot where it would not get in the way of the bumper and be relatively out of the weather. After a few minutes searching, we managed to find a spot just above the right hand side fog light.
If you don't have to remove the bumper, I would say it's a DIY fitting. (David says, on the NA, NB (except SP & SE), and NC, you won't have to remove the bumper bar).
The wiring is very simple, one goes to the OEM horn wiring, the other is an earth wire. David says, the relay that comes with the horn isn't necessary (he has fitted a few now w/out the relay with no issues), but if you're concern, it can be fitted.
This Nautilus Compact is anything but compact when it comes to the way it sounds. It sounds like the air horn of a Ferrari. There is no lag. The sound is immediate, from the moment you hit that horn button.
I'm very happy.

i would have thought you could just reach in from the top. you may have a radiator cowl in the way, so you can't see the horn at the moment. just remove the cowl first.

Inside the engine bay, the aluminium cover piece around the bonnet latch (between the headlights) was removed to access the OEM horns in my NB8B.

NB8B You can quite readily get access to the stock horns through front bumper grille opening- kneel in front insert arm - easy peasy. Position mirror at base if you want to survey the space. I imagine removing alu cover plate even easier access but it appeared to me that it was rivetted so I preferred to leave it untouched.

Not if you have an SP. The intercooler blocks any access in the gap. AFAIK, the aluminium cover piece isn't riveted to the frame. So whatever it is riveted to, comes with the cover once you unscrew the nuts attaching it to the frame.
I'd would have gone and checked my car to confirm, but it's tucked away in the secured basement carpark @ work.

On SE - cover is riveted to something!
Doesnt come off when you undue the 4 bolts.
Cant access from top - any other suggestions for SE?
Surely the front bar doesnt have to come off.
What if the horn is just mounted in clear space behind drivers side headlight - but where do i get the wires to hook it up?
