Cruise Control
Ok I've done my searches and yes i found some Cruise Control topics but i can't reply to them it takes me to the main page again possible because there from last year
Anyway I'm looking at putting cruise control into my NB8A
I've spoken to a guy at Autobarn Slacks Creek and I was told the AP300 would work on my MX-5 I can also go to the AP500 if i wanted to which would cost an extra $100
now the difference I'm told between the AP300 and the AP500 is the AP300 uses vacuum and the AP500 is electronic
My question is is it worth that extra $100 for the electronic
Also is it something thats easy to install? Has anyone installed cruise control on there MX-5?

I installed an electronic cruise control into one of my previous cars AJ and didn't find it very taxing. If you can install a stereo or an alarm system then you wont have any problems installing cruise control. You can pick up the speed from the speed sensor already built into the speedo so it's just a matter of mounting the servo, running the throttle cable and connecting the wiring harness.
I have a vacuum system in my car and it works extremely well....most of the time. Being turbo it needs a vacuum tank to maintain some vacuum to drive the servo while on boost. On a long gentle up-hill slope it will eventually run out of vacuum and the car will loose speed. So if you have a turbo/SC get the electonic servo, if u dont have a turbo it's up to you, but for only $100 extra I go with AJ and recomend the electronic setup.

Can anyone recommend me some places i should get some quotes from for the Cruise Control in Brisbane
It will cost me
AP500 i'm pretty sure is $500
Clutch Switch $20
Steering Wheel Infrared Switch $150
Installation $150
Total of approx $820
Garry, How long did it take you to install your Cruise?
I'm assuming Electronic would be easier than Vacuum to install

I really would like to install cruise onto my SE, long drives on straight roads are terrible without it!
Anyone fitted it to an SE/SP?

Not sure. I'm not great with the things Garry mentioned above.
If the expensive part is the parts, then I'll probably fork the extra $$$ so there is someone to blame if it doesn't work!

Yes, I have one on my SP. Mazda couldn't fit the factory version, apparently due to the Turbo plumbing, so I got an aftermarket version by Cruise Control Professionals.
I'm glad I did, as the control is much better integrated with the steering wheel. The Mazda factory cruise still uses stalk for the controls, while the one that I got uses buttons clipped to the side of the steering wheel.
As shown in the photo, the control is located at the right side of the steering wheel, and a small indicator light was place at the dash (See right side of photo encircled in yellow).
The only thing that I wish it had was illumininated buttons. Currently there are indentations on the buttons so once familiar you sorta know which button is which. But illuminated buttons would have been far better. Obviously this is only an issue at night.
