advanti rims.. to take or not?

Postby Dweezle » Sun May 11, 2008 10:20 am

I have been given these rims for helping out a lil old lady. HAHA.. funny bit is i am serious.

I am just not sure if they will cause any problems or if they are really heavy?

with the tyre included, on a set of bathroom scales they weigh 13 kilos.

Is this ridiculous. i am away from my mx5, otherwise i would just weigh one of my stockers.

also is the offset all wrong? sorry about these stupid questions, just wondering if i should lug them all the way home or not?

can't answer that until you tell us what the offset is!

the offset looks fine, i would be more worried about what looks like re-drilled stud holes.. they could have come standard like that though, in that case they would be fine.

Yeh they came with those stud holes.
like a FIT ANYTHING kinda wheel. EL CHEAPO i know.. but having that extra width might be nice just for a set of track wheels.
as you can probably tell i am a complete noob to all this,
i will take them home, see what they look like.

ps - how can i tell the offset, would it be any of the numbers inside the rim? there are a few.

13Kgs is very light. That's about the same as stock 14x6 NA8s. I'd throw them on and try them.

I have very similar advanti rims on my car. I think they are 4.8kg's each which is pretty light. I havn't broken them yet if that's any indication and mines basically a track car. I got mine for $100 and they've been great. Should see an Offset in the inside of one of the spokes. Something like ET40 for 40 offset.

The jj refers to the geometry of the lip where the rim meets the tyre
So nothing too crucial

yeah... look for a number following the letters ET... that should be the offset... should be near where the wheel meets the hub... maybe in the recesses?
