Clunk from steering?

I started hearing the same thing in the past week (only when parking it @ home - sound gets reflected off the walls, can't hear it any other time) but I only started hearing it just after installing my APEXi power intake.
My theory


When the power steering assist kicks in, it puts additional load on the engine, so when idling it kicks up the revs a little to compensate - the sound we hear is the throttle opening & closing rapidly, which was previously muffled by the stock air filter.

my engine makes this pop sound more when i have wider/heavier wheels on, so your theory kind of is right, thats what i have thought too, but it does't sound right...highly annoying..
