By the time we get to Bribie, I can hardly change gears at all w/out matching revs to get it into gear. Yep, something really aint right here. The last roundabout before the BP servo we had to pull into I couldn't get her to stop moving even with the clutch all the way in

Now with the clutch out, she squeels like a cut pig and goes almost quiet with the clutch all the way in, not really happy.

hmm, slave cylinder maybe?? mine went on saturday which made the hour drive back from the Butterfly install day alot more interesting than normal, sounds just like what I was experiencing except for the squealing

hard to get into gears, most noticable when trying to engage 1st after stopping at a set of lights, then it just got worse and worse

I managed to drive mine for so long by pumping the clutch alot to get some pressure to get into 1st then basically flat shifting into the next gear so ended up in 2nd the whole way to mania

I would suspect the thrust race has collapsed and/or the pressure plate if it is noisy with the clutch out.... :frown:

Agree with Bigdog, especially given that:
ASE didn't mention the nasty NASTY NASTY clutch smell which started at about the Bribie turn off and wouldn't go away until about 20-30 mins after pulling up and turning the car off.

As in the bearing? or the fork?

I (in my younger i know everything days) decided to upgrade to a one tonner cluth on a turboed EH without looking after the clutch fork properly (celica 5 speed behind)...

The extra clamping pressure of the diaphram meant i had a bent fork in about 500 Kms
Huh?

dunno yet, towie only rocked up a bit B4 lunch.

I didn't make a fuss about it but I mentioned the marks on the car from when they previously had it. Flat denied it(I expected that). The owner claims to have done a body check on the vehicle when recieved the 1st time and then again before handing it back.

I get a call 20 mins or so after leaving the car there and it was ol' mate from the shop letting me know I had a shite load of stone chips on the front(well, I knew that). He thought he'd better let me know as he was really surprised by how many were there(and I think trying to cover his ass). I relayed my surprise that he hadn't picked up all these stone chips when they inspected the car the 1st time round :? 8)

I think this is gonna turn to custard :x

just got off the phone to ol' mate who installed the clutch. There are two problems;

1. Spigot bearing was the main problem. Jim Berry did mention there was an issue when playing 'round with stuff the 1st time and he had to locktite it in......looks like that didn't work :? Now the flywheel is 'ted and I gotta find me a new one

2. Jim Berry the clutch \"guru\" put the clutch together incorrectly and has it for it's 2nd rebuild

Oh well, at least all I'm up for is a new flywheel, no labour and their gonna cover my tow truck from Bribie so all will be well soon with any luck(next week) Still, replacing the clutch has landed up costing me nearly $2100...

Bloody hell  . Sorry to hear that Derek. The spigot bearing is an interference fit (has to be pressed in) so what's all this crap about locktite :?:

MX-5 Plus should have a good used flywheel.

Friggin hell what a pain.

Sounds like the spigot bearing was wrong size or the flywheel was enlarged from a spun bearing and he has tried to used shaft lock or the like.

Hope they get it sorted soon.
