au contraire, o learned one, i find the subject description quite eloquent & self explanatory, i'd commend Matty for being suitably restrained.

Agreed, I knew what he was on about, well done!

I considered making Matty's subject a little offensive, but this forum software has a feature where rude words can automatically be substituted for other words based on what the administrator has set.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

How you speak day to day is one thing but what you write is another. There are more useful words in our language than the unimaginative subject description - some even suggest that writing requires a higher skill level than oral language but then again maybe not.

I could sit here and defend my communication abilities, but it would be to completely ignore the ability of blunt, crude language to express emotion and get to the point of how I was feeling at the time.

So thanks for missing the point.

FWIW I have no issues with the fact that those in charge have modified the post title.

Noticed the subject title has changed.
The original title conveyed the pain and frustration of the event.
The new neutered, conservative, inoffensive, and humourless title does not.
Get a grip, have a laugh, and chill out dude.

It probably goes without saying that anyone on this forum would feel just as you did Matty had it happened to them. It doesn't bear thinking about and I'm sure we all hope your car is satisfactorily repaired. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep properly if suffering your circumstances. :(

guys, this thread has served its purpose (ie, me venting). Can we please let the sidetracked topic die?

I'd be wondering if the impact & subsequent damage might have affected the cars geometry. Not long before the crash you had a wheel alignment done, do you reckon it'd be a good idea if your alignment guys put the car on the machine again to recheck the settings. I reckon I'd do this if it were my car.
Anyway, I think you'll find it's going to be close to write-off, doesn't take much of a hit before the insurance company will just pay you out.
Good luck with it Matty, whichever way it turns out.

Cheers Col. Fairly sure it won't be a write-off, but it may take a few weeks to fix... have visited Dick for a quote but he's submitting it straight to the insurance co.

I'll get the alignment rechecked (ideally it is part of the repair, I'll check), but eyeballing, it seems pretty good. Looked underneath on Saturday and none of the suspension seems damaged, the panels/quarter structure took most of the force.

that's a relief =]. I remember when i had a look at it, it appeared to be only panel damage. However i don't want to be presumptions in case there are some hidden damage that i can't see.

Difficulty is those panels are structural and welded in. And the inner panels have been bent as well as the outer ones being damaged. So there's a bit of work to un-weld and replace it.

Rim is dinged up and (being polished) probably can't be repaired.
