Realistically, except for unreliability and high cost, they have got nothing over a Japanese twin cam 4 cylinder.

wait a tick.. so the astina valve cover has exposed gears from factory?

The astina has a plastic cover with a metal backing plate to cover the timing belt.
Because Mazda wanted to make the MX5 motor look like a classic style engine (Lotus Twincam) they changed the cam cover design to incorporate the timing belt cover.

shouldn't that be pity it is na, not an NA. It does sound good, I can normally hear him 4kms from my house when he drops in.

Has anyone done this to the NB8B with coil over plug. What car did you rip the cam cover from?
