why not!?

are you having trouble finding someone to occupy the passenger seat? maybe you could just be a passnger in someone elses car.... i'm sure someone here on the forum would be willing to take you, i would but i already have boags along for the ride.

Thanks for the offer of a ride...

I've actually got my license, but i've only had it since monday (may I add that the tester complemented me on my driving abilty afterwards- and she failed the guy before me). As a result of only being licensed for a week my dad is a bit anti me going down the GOR with you guys without more experience...

I respect what he's saying as while i did a lot of practice on my L's, and can drive quite well for someone my age and, but I haven't done much more than a few country trips, and nothing like the GOR. I know I wouldn't be a imbissile and try to keep up with you guys who have more experience, but I respect what he's saying...

It would have been great to meet you guys, but I guess it'll have to wait until the next club run. I'll try and talk him into letting me go tomorrow, but it probebly wont work. BTW he cant go with me as he is leaving for Sydney sunday afternoon.

The weather looks awesome for you guys though, have fun! Its anoying as I would absolutly love to drive the road! I guess when I finally do it, it will be even more special due to the wait!

well congratulations on getting your licence anyway!

your dad is right tho, it's probably not the best situation for a newly licensed driver...

you could always just come in to town for dinner at the garage cafe tomorrow night tho to meet the group buy king, boags! there will be no driving / hooning, just an early dinner and a bit of a chat, then home for an early night to bed.

Thanks,

I'll see about the dinner. If I can make it i'll let you know by tomorrow afternoon. I think I have your number somewhere.

It would have been nice, but i'll definetly come on one of the next club runs as long as its not something like a night black spur run..

Great weather and great breakfast. Nice alone trip through the mountain to finish up.

Once again thanks to Joni and Chris for arranging this meet.

Steve and Uneeq, there is no need for apologies, we have all been in your shoes at some stage. And today wasn't a race it was a cruise. Sometimes we get carried away, and should be apologising for putting pressure on you.

Everyone, thanks for rocking up and behaving responsibly.

Boags, thanks for coming down, hopefully you can make it next year, if Tia has been sourced you can have a stint behind the wheel

well said stu. thanks joni and chris , i had a great time. bloody knackered i think it was about a 16 hour round trip for me today . plenty of stops along the way tho to recharge.

i have some crappy pics i can post up.

first stop at lorne Image

Image

for the lorne to apollo bay trip, i threw the keys to boags as i could see he was suffering some serious withdrawl symptoms after selling his mx5 3 weeks ago
(terrible photo sorry for my ugly mug! )
Image

he also got to drive phil's na8, and got a ride in stu's nb so i think he well and truly got his mx5 fix today!

then we stopped for breakfast at apollo bay

Image

at this point the cruise was over but there was an optional drive to timboon for lunch, of course we had to stop at the 12 apostles along the way

Image

(spose i could have shown a photo of the 12 apostles but i thought the carpark shot was more interesting  )

Yes, agreed was a fun day. Went on to Port Campbell, had coffee and then we returned to Melbourne via the GOR in reverse with the GLW at the helm. Stopped at Torquay for a late lunch and then back to the big smoke. Was great to see so many people and quite a few from the Thursday night crew as well!!
Guess we'll have plenty to discuss next Thursday night at the next installment of Teem Garage. 8) Thanks to Boags for your presence, that's dedication. Sorry I didn't get to speak to you for long but looks as though you were looked after.
