Thanks yes the search function is useless on the site. You can't find such common words as AVO or manifold. :?

Use the google function at the bottom of each page, you can choose to search the web or just this site.

you can get about a 15.0 1/4 or better with a few cheap mods from a stock NB, if you would be happy with that.

But it wont come close to a well setup Turbo NA.

Sasso wrote: My opinion, if you dont want an SE, get an NA8 or NB8A with a torsen diff and add an entry turbo kit from Flyin' Miata or Begi (or a JRSC or FFSC supercharger). You will get almost 130wkw and already have a diff, street decent brakes, some bracing, wheels.

hehehe
haven't really looked into turbo kits yet but how would the AVO compare to the Flyin' miata or Begi kits?
I was looking at getting the Stage 1 AVO (heard only difference is it doesn't come with the "chip") then ECU

I went the NA6 turbo option because I like the NA6. I've got the AVO Stage 1 kit installed by them and it pushes out between 100-110 at the wheels depending on dyno and that is with a stock exhaust. Reason I went with them is because in Victoria it is the only way I can turbo my car and get it legalised without spending 6 grand getting it epa tested. So far I am very happy with it and it has proven reliable with the current clutch and diff (although I would look at replacing both of these before upping power). The kits out of America are cheap at the moment because of the exchange rate and they represent great value for money unless you have to get it legalised in Victoria   . The Avo stage 3 includes bigger injectors and a full standalone ecu although my stage 1 uses a fifth injector. Anyway food for thought

thanks for the info Sasso
I didn't want to run a 5th injector if I could avoid it, but it's still all talk until i get my fulls :frown:

Engineering is also something I am trying to get figured out, has anyone in NSW gotten their NB turboed and engineered?

What happened to Fuzzlet has me really worried, spending all that money on the build just to find engineering is a bitch and just giving up
I'll talk to an engineer before I start doing any spending just incase

and for whoever had that NB8A at Mania with the AVO turbo kit earlier this year, GET IT ENGINEERED :P then i'll just copy you

My mate just got his NB done at Mania. AVO stage 1 kit. Puts out 134kw at the wheels. Very quick and uses 5th injector. He did get his exhaust done as well.

It was costly though but it was drive in drive out.

AVO mania prices: GT2560R turbo (200sx)
NA6 stage 1 105wkw 5-6psi $4730
NA6 stage 2 134wkw 11psi $6050
NA6 stage 3 151wkw
NA8 stage 1 similar pwr as nb8? $5600
NB8 stage 1 122wkw 5-6psi (close to what op wants) $4700
NB8 stage 2 153wkw 11psi $6050

How do these at the wheel Kw stats compare to the factory at the wheel outcome? Are the numbers quoted here at the fly wheel or the wheels? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_MX-5 This will help me understand how much extra grunt I'd get.

These figures are at the wheels. Hence the wkw (wheel kilowatts) after the figure or rwkw (rear wheel kilowatts). I think drivetrain loss is about 30% (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong) which would mean a power figure of 100rwkw is roughly 150kw at the flywheel. Most people use wkw figures because they are easy to measure on a dyno whereas flywheel figures need to be measured on an engine dyno which means pulling the engine out. Hope this helps you out
