Hardtop hanging wall mount

Hey guys,

Where can I get some sort of bracket/mount that will allow me to mount my hardtop up on my garage wall out of the way?

Mazda UK has something like this:

I'm sure bunnings would have hooks you could make work ..

Or (thinking out loud .. on a keyboard) you could get 2 more Frankenstein bolts, bolt them to a bit of metal and then bolt that to the wall.

Then i'd use a ratchet strap setup to make sure it can't get knocked off the wall.

Okibi, more than just a pretty face huh? Only problem with that is the measurements would have to be spot on and it would also be quite a intricate procedure to line the bolts up when two people are trying to mount it.

You could buy my Triumph Spitfire, it makes a great Hardtop rack

If I was building my own magical hardtop storage rack, i'd be more inclined to make something that hold the hardtop similar to the floor mount but to use on the wall.

Say something that sticks out of the wall like a table, you sit the hardtop on that, strap it in then hinge upwards so the top sits vertically and takes up less room.

If you wanted to be cool you could use some car boot gas struts to slow the rack as it lowered the hardtop back to the \"table\" position where the hardtop sits like it was on the car.

I recon it could be even better if you didn't have to sit the hardtop the right way up onto the \"table\" section.

Even better if it was a snug carpet lined fiberglass \"pod' you snuggly sat the hardtop into and folded away. Perhaps with a key lock so that it could be used in a carport and no one could steal your top. (Dynabolts secured from inside the pod to the wall)

If you had a bunk bed then you could stick the hardtop above you (4 poster bed romantic stylin') and rent out the spare room to a female Swedish beach volleyball team.

You can also use a wire and pulley system (hoist set), and have the hard top hanging from the garage ceiling above your 5.



This way, it can also be a one-person operation, without the fear of dinging your bodywork.

I was thinking the exact same as Hammer. I've thought about the design and it looks easy to rig up.

But as to wall mount hooks, there are also hooks made to hold bicycles on walls that might do the job.

I had a look at the UK brackets- these co's sure know how to charge- crazy price. The ceiling is a good bet if you have the height & beams for support. Bunnings for one certainly has brackets and these could be anchored to the brickwork. If you prefer to make your own - angle iron is easy to work with and if you cannot weld it yourself a mate or the local pro welder will do it in a blink. Spray paint to make the bracket look good & rubber tube for scratch protection.
