Which speakers?

Postby phaedo » Sat Apr 19, 2008 7:49 pm

Putting a new alpine system in the 5, not going all out or anything, bascally I was looking for an ipod solution really. Have picked up this alpine: http://www.alpine.com.au/products/produ ... odelID=357
And a pair of these speakers: http://www.alpine.com.au/products/produ ... odelID=382
Basically just sticking to this set up for now, with the roof off I don't see much point in spending huge amounts on a sound system that will in all likelihood not be worth it - most of the high accoustics would be lost. However, I am wondering if it may be worth spending an extra $50 and picking up some splits: http://www.alpine.com.au/products/produ ... odelID=379 this would be instead of the other speakers.
Any thoughts on this? Having it installed tuesday, so will have to decide by then.

went with the jaycar splits myself, they're pretty good. not outstanding by any measure, but very good for the price (~$100)

I'll second that - there's better stuff out there ultimately, but for the price the Jaycar splits are difficult to beat.

Jaycar splits. I put the main speakers in the doors, just a simple screw job in for my NA8. The tweeters were mounted in the dashboard, just below the padded roll in the harder plastic close to the doors at each side. The crossovers are packed into the space on the tunnel behind the unit itself. They just fit.
