yes the battery is located inside the housing, but it's not just a dumb device it also had the shock sensor and ajustment dial inside the casing

no need, there is a test position and as stated already it just wails to death in a few seconds
and on another note, currently looking at making a replacement, should be done in 2 weeks or so since I couldn't find an off the shelf replacement
