Hey guys,
Finally got around to getting a new head unit for the 5, a reasonably cheap alpine (but still has full ipod control, all I will really use it for) and a set of new speakers, nothing fancy. Anyway, will it need an adaptor kit to install it? Reason I ask is I got it at JB's, and they have a guide to what cars need kits, and since I will need a new cubby (NA model you see), I figured I would need the kit. But there wasn't anything listed in the guide. They will find out for me, but this means waiting a few more days to install it. Thought I would ask here for a definitive answer rather than having to wait until the end of the week to install it if I don't need one. BTW, I am having it installed professionally, not doing that myself again after the last couple of attempts at installing stereos in cars!
Not that I am not unhandy, my new roof instalation went brilliant, car looks awesome, and did the whole thing on my own. Much easier than I would have suspected.

You don't need a kit to fit it, but with the older tombstone surround you will end up with a gap that won't be filled and also the stereo will sit on the top rather than recessed. If you get the later model tombstone (97 I think) then it will fit perfectly with the cubby. Hope that helps
