Just an update. I went home and couldn't find the business card of the Melbourne wheel chromer. I know it was in the outer eastern suburbs...

I've never had a set of wheels anodised, but I have had various aluminium items anodised for work.

I have seen wheels where part of them has been anodised, like the red lip you see on some wheels.
Not sure if they are a part of the wheel or an extra ad-on part, but they sure look anodised to me.

Most consumer items that are made from aluminium are anodised, either clear or in a colour, but these itmes are usually either stamped or spun and not cast like most wheels are.

I would stay away from chrome. One of the problems -high quality hard to get from my exp. Many platers hv gone due to environmental demands and OE std at least on metal is hard to source- what you see is not a measure of how long it lasts. High std of polish required first before cu ni and cr and if it deteriorates it is not fixable. Many restorers grumble about metal cr bits failing. Polishing is possible but you will hv to keep up the metal polish. Not sure if a clear coat retains same lustre as polished. Pntg is normal process and prob least expensive - todays paints are very high perf and you can match and repair.

Advanced Alloys, speak to Lorenzo.

Top guys and top work, have had two sets of wheels repaired/refinished by them and have been very happy with their work.
