need i say more?

No, you neednt say more. Indeed, I wish you wouldnt.
\"i'd bother helping answer if the poster wasn't so f*cking negative & snotty, better off to flog it off mate & buy something else, you're never going to be happy with it with an attitude like that.\"
It can get real slippery up there on the moral high ground.
Ive asked you politely several times, please post something relevent, or go away. In fact, dont bother, I will.
Thanks for the constructive and helpful replies from the car guys on the board.

I was talking to one of the guys from the club today who just had his NC alignment checked. Yep, out to blazes just like both of ours were. 10mm toe in and positive front camber. The difference after a decent alignment by specialists with calibrated equipment and trained/experienced operators is quite amazing.

I can well understand why AJ was peeved at the original post and at other contradictory emotive and colourful descriptions offered by Spaghetti. There are enough words to clearly give the impression that Mazda do not know their stuff. His car is is so bad \"that it is vague and wanders\" \"nervous on turn in\"\" is simply a dog \"\" while dealers are certainly hopeless with things like alignment\" and he does\" expect to be able to keep it in its lane on the freeway and to drive around a roundabout without the tec cutting in\". This is not a description of a normal NC and you would not need to ask others if their cars had difficulty in staying in their lane. The answers are self evident-.
What is remarkable is that the dealer seems not to recognise there is a problem but perhaps that is because Spaghetti stated that \"before I go to Mazda\"-- has he not done that??
If the car is as bad as described it should not be difficult to get a report or an independent assessment which describes in an engineers terms that the vehicle is not behaving as it should. Which brings me back to the thought is this just a wind up?

Holy crap a lot of you got out of the wrong side of bed this morning!
To the OP, your car doesn't sound right. I'd take it to someone you can trust to get it looked at.
I'd suggest maybe a dud shock absorber, which may cause poor wheel to road contact (and hence confusing the traction control etc) as well as giving a sh*t ride.
To the rest of you lot bagging this guy for daring to suggest his MX5 isn't perfect, pull your farking heads in It would take me 3 pages of posts to detail all the problems I've had with my car.
This place is meant to assist people to learn about their car. To all those telling him to go ask other people who own the car whether his experience seems normal, I say that's exactly what he's done, and you've crapped all over him. What a nice way to welcome a fellow enthusiast.

I think we’ve now reached the realm of high farce.
This is a web board. I cant put you in the car and take you for a drive, so I need to “describe†what the car is doing. This involves using words and sentences in an attempt to convey the way the car drives. Its vague, it wanders and it is nervous. The TEC is intrusive.
You can accept my description at face value and comment accordingly, or you can reject my description of the problem and insinuate that I’m lying. As you wish. Why is it that you cannot conceive of an Mx5 with a geometry problem? Would you be more comfortable discussing toe, castor, camber, bound/rebound, pick up points? I wouldn’t, because Im no expert on the Mx5 chassis. But, neither are you it would seem.
Have I been to Mazda? Not yet. As Ive pointed out, the Mx5 is my wife’s car. She has taken it back, and I’m not happy with the dealer response. I don’t drive the car often, but I had for a couple of days last week. I found it unpleasant to drive.
This lead me to finally start investigating whats wrong with it, and brought me here where I knew if this was common problem, it would be well documented. So I’m doing my research in advance of going to Mazda, if indeed I judge going to Mazda to be a course of action likely to get a result. What more likely is that I wont even bother to pursue Mazda- they don’t seem to acknowledge the issue and apparently only enthusiast Mx5 drivers acknowledge it can possibly be so. It will be straight off for a 4 wheel alignment, based on the informed comments helpfully provided here.
No, I don’t use dealerships for wheel alignment. And I will guarantee to you that none of the competitive guys here do either. Ask them why. Finally, mortlok- do you own an Anorak? If you don’t, you should get one.

I think some of the problem is that the alignment may be "within limits" but the range of settings is too broad. The car seems to be very responsive to alignment - be it poor or otherwise.

Generally a good idea. A search of this forum (using the Google function at the bottom of the page) will bring up some recommended aligners in your state/area. Your local MX-5 club, should you or your wife join, can also be a good resource.

Indeed, the dealer once 'aligned' my car to have 0.5 degree positive camber

Well said Caffeine, couldn't have said it better myself.
Hi Spagetti,
Geez.....you must be full of holes from all the flak thrown at you.
Not sure if i should mention company names, but i'm trying to help, take your Mx down to Tyrepower in Reservoir. Speak to Ray and i'm sure he'll sort out the problem for you. They're a very helpful bunch of chaps down there and sponsors of the Victorian Club.
If i've broken forum protocol, if there even is any after reading some of the posts, i humbly apologise.
As i said......just trying to help a fellow Mx5 member out!!!!
Cheers.
