Flocking -interior boot liner

Postby Mr Morlock » Thu Apr 10, 2008 5:29 pm

My boot liner (NB8B) is showing some signs of wear with flocking rubbed off and shiny. Is there are DIY fix for this? I imagine that replacing the moulded liners will be the same old story of being expensive.

There are companies that do flocking.
Many of the companies that do styrofoam packaging do it, and you might find some flockers (love that word) in your Yellow Pages.
Not too easy to do yourself as it is partly an electrostatic process, much like powder coating.

Do a search on club roadster, I think a guy there flocked his dash.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Umm, just buy some new panels. Ring Mazda, price may be OK.

I will do what Benny suggested and try some of the packaging guys - he is right about the process. I might also try Mazda as suggested though I expect it will be expensive. Thanks for the comments.

If you call yellow pages they might be able to tell you where you can go and get flocked.
