Help needed tonight, Alarm backup battery?
I've been having problems with my alarm over the last week or so
basically I lock the car then the alarm goes off straight away and I have to deactivate it by unlocking via the remote, normally after about 5 goes it finally stops and locks as normal
I've been reading through the normal manual, security system manual and the workshop manual and nothing could be found out
so today I had a quick play around and it seems that the backup battery has decided to give up on me when in the test position it just wails slowly to death
so just wondering if anyone knows where the backup battery for the upgraded mazda alarm is kept (might want to PM me since it's a security thing) and/or what type of battery it is and approximate cost of replacement?
I'll see how the reply's go but tomorrow I'll be heading to the mazda dealer to see if they can help out as I would like this fixed up ASAP

Just dismantled my siren, hoping to find a battery which I could replace. What I found 'though was circuit board with a 6V 170mAh battery fitted. The battery isn't able to be replaced as it is soldered on to the PCB and held in place with some kind of adhesive. I gave up when I found this and just put it back together while I consider what to do next
Happy 10AE man [#5128]

Re:
ok well here is how it went
went to Mania to see if they could help out
no luck, alarm wasn't fitted on the imports so i couldn't just swap over the box
Mazda was called to see what they could do since it's listed as a \"genuine\" mazda alarm. They had no idea, headoffice supplied contacts for the company they had contracted to make the alarm system, the number turned out to be wrong. The proper company was tracked down and called, after the part numbers were given they said they did have one in stock but they didn't know if it worked or not so they would find out and call back, haven't heard anything yet so we will have to wait until monday
it's a bank of 5 batteries located inside the siren as others said, from the original maker we found out it's actually a bank of 5 batteries, to get it off a good hairdrier and soldering iron would be required, hairdrier for the glue and soldering iron to melt the solder
Jaycar don't stock the battery
It's a bank of 5 x 170BVK batteries, of the Sylva Charge brand
updated before tuesday hopefully
