best bang-for-buck performance tyre

hi Guys,

its time for some new tyres(the crappy falkens i have now are going to kill me soon)...

whats everyones recommendations on the best bang-for-buck performance 17\" street tyre?

i need long life, and good performance in dry and wet. dont need anything super sticky like the RT-615.

what are the re001 bridgestones worth?

im pretty sure they are $200+ for 17\"...

the KUMHO KU-31 have me very interested...seem to be CLOSE to the RT-615 for half the price...anyone have these tyres or experience with them?

For the NB8B 16\" rim in 205/45 R16 the Bridgstone RE001 are around the $200-$215 mark.

i've got the ZE326. They are not so great. Poor wet weather grip. Exiting an intersection, if i use approx 1/2 or 3/4 throttle on a NB8B, the insides spin out. Annoying.
Dry weather, it is very average. Great tyre if you want to burn rubber though.

yeah ive currently got some falken ziex on there...i didnt think it was possible...but they are WORSE than nankangs in wet and dry...
theyve only done about 5000km but id rather ride on rims than this garbage rubber...

I had Falken Ziex 326 on 15's and they were SH!T.
I now have Falken Azenis 612 and they are probably all I will use on my Turbo MX, I'd hate to drive it on normal rubber.

all i can comment on is the re001s are great. I have them on my car with 160wkw and for the road they are about as good as you should need. I put some dunlop semis on and although they have more grip you should not require that extra grip for the road. If you do you are probably being a bit of a tool. if you want to spend a bit more apparently the preceda pp2's are the dogs.

I had FK456 and RE001 before...they are both very good, but RE001 is softer compound.

For bang for your bucks, you cant go past FK456.

i just went and got some kumho ku-31's. reviews everywhere were very good.

in the first 100km's on them ive already found nice turn in, feels like sidewall isnt budging(hard sidwall), progressive loss of traction, less bump steer. cant really comment on overall traction yet, its still on that slippery clear coat crap.

Just called up k-mart tyre and auto. They are retailing 16' Re001's for $220. They also said that they match and beat cheaper prices, so if you find it cheaper than $220, they will match it and beat it by 10%.
