NSW Club - Meguiars Tech Talk Night 6th May

Postby Charlie Brown » Fri Apr 04, 2008 10:03 am

Meguiars Tech Talk Night

When: Tuesday 6th of May

Meeting: 35 Slough Business Park, Holker St, Silverwater.

Time: 6.30pm onwards…don’t be late!

Details: Well it’s that time of the year again to visit Meguiars to get the good oil (or is that polish!) on how to look after your car. Peter & Matt from Meguiars have indicated that there will be a 20% discount on stock for sale on the night for MX5 club members. They will be giving demonstrations on how to use and apply their products as well, using an MX5 donor car! So if you have an MX-5 that needs a bit of TLC, bring it along as it might get chosen for a make over.

RSVP: NOTE ONLY ABOUT 30 - 35 PEOPLE CAN ATTEND DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE WORKSHOP!
*** PLEASE E-MAIL socialsec@mx5.com.au AND BOOK YOUR SPOT BEFORE 18th APRIL ***

CB, I tried to email the socialsec (at) mx5.com.au address and I got a bounce message saying the mailbox is full. Can you put me on the list for this tech night?

Thanks

I had that happen before as well for something (very possibly this night), but the email still got forwarded. You might find that you'll get a return email sooner or later about it anyway.

Thanks Marcusus, I'll see what happens over the next couple of days.

Yep, it was for this tech night. Got a return email from Phil Ashton the next day, so even though the socialsec box is full, it must be forwarding the emails to Phil's other address.

Tech Talk Night went well. The guys from Maguiar's showed their waterless car cleaners and wax/polish. It's amazing being able to wash and polish a car without a single drop of water.

They also showed the effectiveness of the Claybar (which I'm a fan way back when), and the new generation, easy to buff off polymer polish etc. The polishing (electric) buff was also shown and used to provide a much deeper shine. Glenn's blue NB8B was used as the guinea pig, and drove away sparkling at the end of it.

The waterless system worked well, as well as the claybar system. The new vinyl (rear softop) cleaner, is also impressive. Leaving the softop with a natural shine without the greasy/oily residue.

At the end of the day, I learnt a fair bit, and was $145 lighter in the wallet - even with the 20% off. :( But all going to a good cause I reckon

That stuff was great. That's the only thing I can't seem to do, or don't have a product for already. Hoping to get to my mate's place this weekend and bug him to let me use his random orbital buffer and all the associated products.

If I didn't already have a brand new clay bar sitting on my floor I'd have definitely bought one. $27 for a bar and lubricant (which is a cleaner as well apparently) is pretty good value.

Does anyone remember whether the cloth & trim cleaner was applied to the roof as well as the natural shine product? I seem to remember two being used, but Hammer reckons it was just one...
