Fatty; I would love to support the local bloke, but they were the least interested out of the lot. I get the feeling that a lot of these shops are run by rednecks, and have only made cams for \"imports\" out of necessity.
They of course said \"yeah we can do it\", but the way they said it, it was like I was asking them to help me move furniture.

Rob, it's a once/twice a week driver, with 5-6 track days p.a.
My goal is simply to make decent power, over 90kW @ wheels, reliably on a stock engine. I think I'll change the valve springs and seats too.

I guess everyone has bad days in dealing with customers but I did a bit of research before getting the Tighe's (billets)and have a few motorsport mates who swear by them.

They were good to deal with and gave prompt service and very pleased when i gave them some feedback. I have nothing to compare the cam performance with but combined with the Microtech they have transformed the car.i was out early this morning and the thing is amazing tractable and then you have this amazing performance between 5500 and 8000.

Couldn't be happier, but I'm sure that there are heaps of other alternatives.

Peter, did you upgrade anything else? Valve springs, seats, cam gears?

I thought I may as well do as much to the top of the engine as I can while I'm at it.

IRed,

No, I just had them fitted with a new cambelt kit but the engine was a 66000klms job, so it wasn't needed in my case from a replacement angle or to accomodate the cams.

The Tighe cams run at the standard setting so cam gears would have had no advantage, may be worth checking if others do need them as that would easily blow any cost savings!!

Cool cool.
By the time I get the cams, my engine would have done 135,000; but pretty much everything serviceable at the 100,000k service (including new water pump) was done at 90,000k and 5 years ago.

Cheers

If anyone is interested in a custom billet intake cam for the VVT engine (NB 01+), please contact me via PM. Either turbo or naturally aspirated. Not cheap.
01 NB - BRG (Sold)
Still have a power ported NB8B Manifold, ideal for forced induction

Morons.
that's all I can say about the guys on the Miata.net forum.
I did a search for \"cams\" and the best hit was a guy simply asking where he can buy them from as the only place he found was Integral Cams.

The first 10 replies were:
\"turbo or supercharge is a better option\"
\"you won't get much gain with cams\"
\"why dont you do intake, exhaust etc\"
\"turbo gets you more power\"

Morons

So, bitching over, can anyone confirm that HKS makes cams for the NA8?
I can only find ones for NA6s.
