I think it shows the year the glass was manufactured.

The dots in a certain place NIPPON SAFETY mean something.

Knowing this information would help in determining date of vehicle build.

Isn't the build date also on the plate attached to the firewall?

Have you tried Googling it? But the glass manufacture may have a variance of a good couple of months to the car being constructed?

Would decoding the VIN provide that info?

Mate, these guys are only trying to help.

Various other parts in your car will also be dated. I don't know about the NA specifically but parts like seat belts, gauge cluster may also be dated. Possibly in Japanese date format but thats not hard to translate.

The dot above the letters tells you what month of glass manufacture, top six are first six months, bottom six last six months. I can't for the life of me remember how to tell the year of manu but will ask around and post if I find out. But remember this is for manu of glass only, my mx has four different glass manu dates and all are original.

I don't know about the NA specifically but parts like seat belts,

It's a Eunos so the belts would be replaced when the side intrusion bars are done

Terry seems to be close to the mark but you may never understand the manuf coding. There will be other date codes on yr vehicle such as plastic mouldings rear lamps and even halogen bulbs. The latter bulbs use letters and nbrs - - makers such as Osram can id the shift a day/shift a product is made on and check production records. Yr glass will never stand up \"in court' because you do not know if it was ever replaced.
If the glass is your particular interest then you might have to conduct your own private research such as contacting the manufacturer but is it really that \"interesting\".
