Patchy NA6. 5 shades of red. 3 shades of Primer
so with the addition of some hot cams, adaptronic, exhaust & asociated bits for her 20th birthday Patchy is quite a different car now than what she was 12 mths ago.
although The adaptronic was checked over by Mania, the mucking around on my behalf has started. With a huge help from ampz.
The car goes hard. Its a fraction less powerfull than standard under 4k rpm but then all hell breaks loose. between 4&5 it starts to pick up but at 5k rpm the earth moves. It still pulls at 7k rpm.
So for a few months I've mucked around with the map & changed things for the better. some worse. The good part is I can always revert back to an older map once I really muck it up.
one of the issues with having a big cam is that it will not allow the manifold to get serious pressure at idle. So instead of idling on about 25 Kpa its idling on 66 Kpa. Therefore dumping a huge amount of extra fuel when idling.
It also seems to bog down when the accelerator pedal gets planted. Probably adding too much fuel. Transient throttle when cruising was an issue but I think I got that sorted today.
But to get a more acurate tune, ampz recently installed a air intake temperature sensor and a progressive TPS.
since the AFM is removed it also removes the stock air temp sensor. So another one was rigged up & placed at the entrance of the intake
this is where it is for the moment.
A progressive TPS was also installed. This one is off an Audi. Ampz also rigged up a loom so it can be returned to standard if need be
so here I am. I call it a journey. Its been extremely exiting & fun as well as extremely frustrating at the same time. But I've had some great help.
