i've got some new whiring noises and vibration type noises now too.

as a result of the clutch change, or maybe coz i've changed to the redline gearbox oil.

in nuetral without the cutch engaged there is a loud whirring noise that goes away when i engage the clutch. the noise gets a lot quiter after the car warms up a bit bit it is still there. i think there may have been a similar noise beforehandm but i never noticed it this much. it is pretty loud first thing in the morning.

the other noise is a quick whirring noise, zippy kinda noise when i change up gears. i guess it's the synchros spinning up to speed. but i've never noticed it before.

last but not least there is a vibration every now and then, usually in 3rd or 2nd, or changing down from 3rd to 2nd, when i take my foot off the gas and let the revs drop while the car is still in gear. eg i'm revving up to about about 5-6000 rpm then taking foot off gas while still in gear.

this one has my worried a bit , 2 or 3 times it was pretty loud.

Fatty,
The vibration you mention could be exhaust or the heat shield, also is the dump pipe done up OK now?

My car has that noise when its cold too. I assumed it was the throw out bearing, but you would have changed that when you did the clutch?

hey bruce yes i was thinking exactly that too. it does sound like an exhaust vibration.

i'm working on the dump pipe tonight.

ben yep i changed the throwout bearing, i dunno maybe they just do that even when they're brand new.

i have a different problem now.

i currently have a crunchy 2nd gear. I can't hear it externally but i can feel it that it isn't going into 2nd gear smoothly. Given this only occurs when the gearbox is cold. When the box warms up it is much smoother. REckon it is a oil related issue?
