nb wheel widths?

hey just wondering what the largest width rim an NB left factory with in aus? and what offset?

NB8A - 15x6 - 40 offset

NB8B - 16x6.5 - 40 offset

NB8B SE - 17x7 - 40 offest

so keeping this in mind would i be able to go out to 8\" on an NB? as an SE is a NB with a turbo?

From memory ... my NB8A Mazda brochure listed 16x7 wheels as an option. If I also remember the regs, it says some thing like \"... or offered as an option by the manufacturer\", which would suggest that 8 inches on a 16 rim would be ok, maybe also 8 inches on a 15 rim too, if you were prepared to argue that width and diameter are being treated separately in the regs...

If you want, I will have a look for that brochure (currently painting the house so no guarantees). Perhaps Craig has one in the filing cabinet?

In any event, are you sure you need 8 inches? If Rex fronts in 2B, we are all looking at squabling over 2nd, perhaps 3rd if the Integra is firing :roll:

Might have been a dealer option on the NB8A's but I'd still be checking the tyre placard inside the door for reference...and old brochures...lol...good one! :lol:

As for 8", besides all those junk e-mails that want me to buy some tablets, I can't see you being allowed to run 8" on a NB8A in Class 2B. You will get as much grip from your 205s as you will from 225s plus there is the problem of stuffing them under the rear guards with only the lip rolled.

99-05 Miata 15x8 225/45/15 fits front and rear, no rubbing. 15x7 205/50 clears everywhere. Clears Wilwood BBK with one piece Corrado and two piece Wilwood rotors, 01+ sport brakes. 225/50/15 fits rear fine, front requires fender roll if lowered past 12.5\". 15x7 +27 passes Spec Miata trackwidth rule. 15x9 225/45 will clear front and rear rolled fenders & more than -2* camber, 275/35 will require pulling rear fenders slightly. 15x9 will alllow tire to contact front shock tower bulge at about 11.3\" fender height.

So a non supercharged exige.... all the exiges have been the toyota engines too with the variable cam timing just like honda's. Guess we'll find out how fast it really is. I think my priority at Oran will still mostly be not crashing on the final turn before the straight....

i hear that 8\" wide suits the 205 semis better than 7\" as the semi slicks tend to sell them selves a bit short when stating width..
ive also been told that 17x8 with dunny DO3 215s are the grippiest combo for an mx5 and can manage to keep up with some lower end sliks i thought this was going against everything ive been told previously but it came from a reliable source and they have track times to show.. im guessing you would beed to find some freakin light 17's though.. i mean on a Nat Asp 5 that kinda rolling mass wouldnt be nice.. not such a prob for a turbo car i guess... untill your cornering then its one and the same..

yeah think that will be my main concern also.. theres rather alot of paint on that wall... lots of interesting colours too and it dosnt look like it was put on with a paint brush... more.. a variety of different bumpers
