I've tried hitting it every possible direction. It's being a stubborn little bitch. I'll let the brake guys sort it out tomorrow. Because the pins are rusted, i'd much rather get them redone properly so that the pins are nice and smooth. On that note, what exactly do they do in an \"overhaul\"? Do they just bore out the pin hole and put in a new sleeve and replace the old pin for a new one?

Make sure you give them a call first - they couldn't fit mine in for a few days (it was directly after the Christmas break though).

Don't hit it too hard or you might bend the slider pin. I'm not sure what the overhaul entailed - its just written on the invoice. Has a 12 month/20,000km warranty though.

Well i dropped the car off thismorning. I think i over-tightened the piston coz the rear right was smoking when i pulled up  The pin was completely corroded and needed a bit of work. In total, i got both rears done with new pads for $148. Was more than what i was expecting but they spent over an hour trying to free the slide pin! At least its all beter now.

$148 including new pads? That was a bargain. New pads could easily set you back that much alone - what sort did they fit? With mine I supplied a set of genuine pads - they fitted these for me while they had the lot apart.

I supplied the pads (Bendix CT's). I got all the pads at cost price coz i have a friend in the industry. (he made me an offer i couldnt refuse!)
