15\" What the???

I've spent the last couple of days dropping in at different wheel specialist??? and tyre stores to try and get some new light weight wheels.
Must be easier winning Lotto than trying to get people to realise (1) you don't want to buy 17\"+ rims. (2) You know the style of wheel you want, (3) That 15'' wheels are all you want.
I've been told that no-one makes 15\" anymore, all wheels weigh 10Kgs+ and what they have is all that there is to chose from, and who drives an MX5 anyway.
Might be a Brissy thing, but sh*t it's an annoying attitude.
Can anyone suggest someone in Brissy who listens and is willing to find out exactly what is and isn't available in 15\" wheels.
I've even emailed 949 racing and if i can't get something decent in Aus I'll order their wheels.
Am I alone in encountering this attitude?
I realise that bigger diameter wheels are the go these days but surely there must still be a market for 15\" rims

tbro, I'd go for NB 15\" or 16\" wheels - see MX-5 Plus. If you don't like that idea, try Bob Jane Taringa (ask for Milton).

Depends on your budget and the style you are after, but there are a few places along Moss St importing Japanese wheels, I know Wheel Revolution import stuff like SSR and other stuff. Like I say though, depends on budget and preference.

If you think 15\" are hard to find try looking for a reasonably light 16\" wheel. Most wheel catalogues go something like 14, 15,....17, 18, 19, 20, 21,22,23,24,25\". If they do actually happen to make a 16\" wheel then it's only available as a 5 stud fitment.

When I was looking I was told 15's are more popular than 16's because the \"drift\" set like them, and a lot of cars already come with 16's from the factory so most people want to go to 17's.

Another option is to order custom Volks, SSR or WORKS rims from JDM importer...but the waiting period can be up to 4 months.

Also don't be surprised to fork out around $700 each!!!

The eneki RPF1s are probably more afordable.

Im pretty sure they come in the 15\" size with the 4 x 100 PCD

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've been to 3 different dealers in Brisbane in the past week, trying to see what's available in 15 x 7" lightweight wheels. Been told that no one makes 7" wheels they are all 6.5" and that "lightweight" wheels don't really exist either. I've seen some "lightweight 15 x 7" wheels on the MX5 mania site that have a 40mm offset and weigh 6.1 kg apparently. Maybe worth considering?

Patience on this forum works well. eBay has also been happy hunting for 15s.

I haven't used these guys but they import new wheels and will also bid on jp auction wheels for you and ship.

Problem with those is they won't clear the upgraded brakes on the Sports brake package NB8B's and NB8C's. If you plan to upgrade or currently have the 270mm rotors they won't fit over them. I'm sure it actually states it on the goodwin racing site. As well as a few forums. Shame really because they're really good value and light weight but I had to discard them as a possibility.

I believe Boyracer had superlites before... do a search for that. Think they're aussie and had nice offsets...don't remember if they really were light though...

Glad to know I'm not the only one having problems with poor advise and bad attitudes. What happened to customer service.
I've received an email from Iron Canyon Racing already and hopefully with the extra info supplied I'll know in a couple of days how much and when.
So I'll keep you informed as to what we decide.

Tempe has one 15*7

Remember to be legal you can only go up 1\" in width over the standard rim.
