Hi,
I know Mazda sells blue tooth kits for the stereo but it is a bit $$$$$$$$.
Does anyone know of another blue tooth kit that will fit the Bose stereo?

It's controlled off a small microphone in the top right hand area of your windscreen that has a + and - volume control and a hang up/answer button built into it.
It uses the stereo to output the callers voice and kills the radio if anyone calls.
No steering wheel controls whatsoever...and that's across the entire Mazda range.

Sounds similar to a Nokia CK-7W kit - mic, small controller button, can be hooked up to stereo, etc.
Get a quote for a CK-7W fully installed with a relay to mute the stereo when a call comes in. Pretty much everywhere can do it.
(Just watch out as some of the newer Nokias will sound echo-ey using a Nokia kit! ! eg. Nok 6120. Every other phone is fine.)

If so have they got it to mute the system in on the bose stereo unit?
My installer says he just runs a wire with a relay (?) to mute the radio. I'd imagine CK-15W would do it as well. Never sold one but just an upgrade of the 7W so should have that feature. Ring one of the bigger local installers and ask them.

Re: Bluetooth hands free kit for NC 2007 with Bose stereo
Pulling up this old thread as i used the "search" function and came across this topic because my 08 NC has the OEM bluetooth kit and it has permanently muted the bose unit. (3rd time in 20000km.)
Does anyone know how this happens and how i can fix it? The last two times i had to take the car back to the dealership who just reset the system.
Does anyone know what the bluetooth set is called, name / model number or have a manual for its operation?
Would a product like the scanguage II allow me to reset this possible 'error code' without needing to take the car back to the dealership?
Any help at all would be much appreciated so i can started listening to my tunes and taking calls again!

Re: Bluetooth hands free kit for NC 2007 with Bose stereo
Bit of a weird issue Kris, usually the car phone unit will ground a wire heading into your headunit to tell it to switch from radio/cd etc across to the car phone input.
It sounds like an issue with the relay used to ground this wire, could be external or inside the car phone unit itself. I wonder if Mazda's fix is to disconnect the battery and power cycle the unit, it's a pity their fix hasn't been more permanent.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It seems it has been faulty from the start. I'd take it up with the dealer/Mazda and insist that it be fixed permanently under warranty.

Re: Bluetooth hands free kit for NC 2007 with Bose stereo
It is an odd problem, and not something i'm finding a straight forward answer to on the mazda forums.
Okibi, do you mean i should perhaps disconnect my battery thereby restarting the bluetooth device?
JBT, i'm just out of warranty, i'm sure they wouldn't mind fixing it, but i'd rather find out what causes this problem, to prevent it from reoccuring and secondly, so i can fix it if it does happen so i don't have to travel into the dealership.
When i have taken it to the dealership in the past, they have been able to solve the problem in a couple of minutes, but i've never known what they've done, thats why i believe perhaps they reset the bluetooth device from the OBD2 because i can't see any other way to restart it.
Today as i was pulling the car apart for 'educational' purposes i found a stray glasses case with glasses inside in the space between the glove box and the radio! I might have to try and contact the previous owner. Anyway, another rattle gone!
Cheers

Re: Bluetooth hands free kit for NC 2007 with Bose stereo
I have purchased the iPod\Bluetooth kit from cushie audio. Cost was less than $200 delivered. I haven't installed it yet but I did put the same system in my partner's rx8. It works fine in the rx8. An incoming call mutes the radio and you answer the call using the up/down seek buttons. The microphone can be mounted near the top of the windscreen or any suitable spot. I will let you know how the mx5 install goes.
