Lynx Splitfire Super Direct Ignition Sytem

Postby pcmx5 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 12:27 pm

Has anyone any experience with these? A coil on plug system for the MX?

Expensive at around $1120 but obviously replaces the coil and supposedly gives a 7hp gain on a lighly modded car.

link doesn't work.

for that money you could install a megasquirt and use toyota cops, and still have money left over.

also, going that way you don't hafta run wasted spark anymore and can fine tune your ignition timing a lot better, apparently.

I've seen them for $600 USD and cheaper.
Apparently they dont make them for NA8 anymore.

I've been searching for them for the last 6 months. When my coils go, Im gonna try to install Accel Super Coils.

Ired, what you are talking about are SPITFIRE replacement coils, and you are right, they don't make them for NA8's anymore.I was interested in getting a set to have for "when"

This is a totally different sytem;SPLITFIRE and is a coil on plug setup.

sorry dont know why the link doesn't work, just goggle Lynx in Aus.

Interested to hear if anyone has experience with this system, seem to remember reading an article on the world's most powerful NA6 that had them.

It broke( at the time)the record held by Flyin Miata!

Hi Peter,

Working link ==>> http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/main.php?idx=home

As Fatty said there is a cheaper way of do this, but it is not a solution in a box that the lynx appears to be.

Have a look at the following long running post on the miata turbo forum it has a lot of detail and information (some good, some not).

Thanks for correcting me pcmx5, but I did mean Splitfire NOT Spitfire

And the record was broken sometime last year (or late 06) by Steve Gosbee's Turbo NA6 at a Newcastle meet.

Thousand apologies!!! not sure where i got that from!!

Interesting that Lynx list the 03 set which suits the 1.8 to 1999 when eneryone else list only the 02 set for the 1.6.

But 50000yen plus postage makes $1120 seem like a rip off!!!!

No harm no foul pc :)
I have given up looking for decent priced ones, but if you have any luck, then remember to shoot me a PM please.
The DIS003 (or whatever) is for all NA8 and NB8 (bar the last series) but I havent found ANY for sale anywhere in the last few months.

$400 is still a bit exy, but if they last over 100,000km then it's worth if for the ease of plug'n'play

IRed,

I am pretty sure that Perfect Run used to show them looking like an ordinary coil pack rather than in the kit as now.

Obviously we should have taken the plunge when they were available.

Plenty of Nissan ones on Ebay and all reasonably priced bugger it!!

If you have an aftermarket ECU, convert it to use cop - cost is some wiring and the coils. Reduce the dwell and get it re tuned - power everywhere. PM me if you want more info...my racer runs COP as does most of the QLD racers.

Bump up this thread.

Has anyone purchased this system?

I've sent these guys an email, cause they don't list up a price for them..

But from what I've seen the di-ignition has been discontinued for the mx5

Well I already knew the answer, but was hoping that at least they had one in stock. They don't and don't make them anymore.

As per miataturbo COP thread...

Really quite simple, and for the NA8 guys there is also a dwell reducer circuit someone on there made which I believe allows them to be run on a stock ecu.
