Mx5 Mania Track Day
Moderators: Andrew, -alex, miata, Midori
No probs, sorry I couldn't time you every round, had to bleed Gavins brakes in 20 minutes, good old wiper pipes I pulled off my car and empty gatorade bottle I found in the bin.
Practice heel toeing on the street, it impresses your friends and sounds awesome.
SM what camera did you use?, it seems pretty good, stacks of zoom, clear shots.

Fulleh sick!!
Although I do it all the time as well... I heel toe about 90% of the time I change gears...
So this new Alex isn't just the old Alex being a wise guy and posting with a new username or anything is it? It got rather confusing when Alex was saying Alex was doing well taking pictures of himself whilst racing at the same time

Right, well as long as that's sorted...
Incidentally, it's interesting to see the difference between the cornering of Alex's car and mine. When I look at the photos that Ian took of my car when I was out compared to Alex's, I look way flatter in the corners. Looks like those super streets are doing their job.
How does the LSD go? I'm debating what to get as my next mod, and wonder how much more traction you get with the LSD.

-alex wrote:Quick question, which is your car? and did I manage to snap some shots of it?
Just so I know what Im comparing with alex's (SM)I'll call him that to make this easier)
I didn't attend the track day. I was down the weekend before when a few of the guys came down to just check it all out. You can find the pictures from that track day here. Mine's the dusty green one
I think it's more amusing to keep calling you both Alex. It leads to more confusion, which leads to hilarity in most cases.

Looks like you guys had a great day also, your car probably ended up in a similar state to alex's though im sure your not too lazy to clean the dust out..!
Yes it will lead to hilarity more-so confusion, Ajay was enjoying it on Monday, found it amusing that we would turn at the sound of our name.
Anyway just for the record differences mainly being that 'SM' Alex is a guy, and me '-alex' Alex am a girl.

Yeah, it got cleaned this weekend past. I feel much better after doing it too. It was really bugging me after the track day. There's still lots of dirt in little gaps in the plastic etc which I'll have to really get at on a free weekend.

That's always a laugh. I've never been friends with someone who's had the same name with me so I haven't had that problem. I figure it'd be plenty confusing should it ever happen.

Its interesting to say the least..
rather confusing at times, but you learn to deal.
call each other by lastnames for instance (Alex if you do that here and you will never hear the end of it..!)
Glad to hear you keep your car clean..!
Apparently Dave (and the interior) got a full face of dust when Alex came off on turn 1-2 (thanks to the air vents), for the trip home, from inside you could almost say the car looked to be poorly resprayed white. Though Im sure the exterior has been returned to its shiney self, not so sure about the dash...

Mine's not quite so bad as that, although I daresay you're exaggerating. There's still some little pools of dust right below the air vents on mine because, although I've managed to clean the outside of the car, I haven't gotten around to doing the inside

Yeah, I can heel toe on the street fairly well on almost all down shifts, but I find at the track it is harder to do, mainly because of the largely increased pressure in the brake pedal over driving on the road. Having said that, I found myself heel toeing on the track this time round more than on previous occasions. I think it all comes down to getting more practice on the track.

I actually didn't find it that difficult on the track. Thing is, because I'm stomping on the brakes so hard and I'm basically already at 5-6 grand, I was able to jab the throttle and it would really be at the right rev range to do the double clutch.
However, the only place I found I needed to heel toe was on the last turn to get from 3rd to 2nd. I probably should be heel toeing on the fish hook too, but I think I was just braking before it, then double clutching into second to get round it rather than doing any heel toe action.
