i've read through a couple of the american forums about NB8B stock power and it seems like the addition of SVT and a 0.5 increase in compression only added a few hp's, rather than the 6-7 kw's claimed by Mazda.
is this true for Australian NB8B's? or is this an american thing.
NB8B stock power

Re:
Part of that was (according to Scott Dixon when he was at Mazda) due to changing the rating system they used (can't remember from which to which, there's SAE, ECE, and a few others used around the world).Garry wrote:Mazda AUS revised the power figure down for the NB8C but the official performance figures didn't change. I'll let you work it out......
The other features are probably more aimed at fuel economy, emissions and midrange torque.

As Garry alludes, in 'work it out', enviro-nazi's got to it, re-mapping the chip to make it cleaner between the NB8B and NB8C. Power and torque took a dive. Just sad.
I had an 8B and fitted a CAI - which lifted torque noticably. No drone whilst cruising, and a sensational noise when on the loud peddle. I plan on fitting another to our NC.

Back now as a full Club Member. How? How did this happen? Ex-Member, Fat Bastard Racing Team (but was Foundation Fat). Are NC's Fat?

NB8A was advertised at 106kW & 168nm torque (not too sure on the torque figure)
NB8B was advertised at 113kW and 181nm torque.
NB8C gained ODBII engine management (same as the US), and power dropped to 107kW, but overall performance didn't change much (probably due to the fatter torque curve, despite lower peak power)

Supreme Blue NB8B, 1:16.98 at Wakefield when stock, but it's not stock any more...
