Sorry for nube questions
I started to grease the calipars today (NB8B)...
Before even taking the calipars off Im missing the \"M\" springs on all four brakes! (I presume these are not essential because thus far I have been stoppping fine without them???)
Im also missing the \"shim\" (part number 8 in the diagram) on two of my break pads! (I also assume these are also non esential parts???)
Do these missing parts come with new pads or do I have to buy them from the dealer?
BTW Im kinda lucky I decided to do this project because takin the rear calipars apart there is no grease in sight!

hi wun. yep i'm pretty sure those parts are non essential (they just stop squeeling i think). also as jbt said, the only way you can get them is when you buy pads from mazda... you cannot buy them seperately! so, if you buy aftermarket pads, they are not included.

I'm pretty sure the later models don't have the \"M\" spring. At least mine didn't and I have been the only one who's ever changed the pads.
After my experiance with the rears I greased my front slider pins too. The passenger side was fine, however the bolts on the drivers side were close to being frozen. Took a good swing on the spanner to loosen them. The slider pins were fine though, but I cleaned and re-greased them with the PBR grease. Also did the bolt threads while I was at it

My wife took the 5 for a drive this morning. 1 km down the road and there was smoke coming from the driver's side rear brake. It was dragging badly.
I let the car cool down and drove it home. Not as hot but the wheel was too hot to touch.
I had done 60 km yesterday with no problems.
Are the sliders the only things that tend to go wrong with these? NA8 Clubman BTW.

I only greased the rear calipar pins recently...
When I changed my pads, mazda didnt grease the rear calipars (If they did 35k km later there wasnt any grease to be seen)
Apparently its a kinda common problem as the rear calipars dont do as much of the work so sometimes it goes un noticed.
