I got a chiped windshield

Anyone know where I can replace the typical glass windshield with a thin flimsy acrylic one?

Nope, because it's illegal for road use. I doubt very much whether anyone would make such a thing for the 5 at all....

X2
car glass is meant to shatter into thousands of tiny, blunt little pieces.
Acrylic/plastic etc will turn into a few pointy daggers.

Call Windscreens O'brien et al asap.

Wun, you really want to save weight huh?

BTW I got my windscreen replaced for $180 by Novus. By far the cheapest, some other company charges between $240 to $320

 Not for many years, Windscreens have been laminated since before 5's were made. It will not shatter

I had two MX-5 windscreens replaced in Melb about two years ago for $146 each and they will do the work at your home or work. I believe they are called FX Autoglass. By the way for that price they will use a standard one type fits all seal. The original Mazda seal costs around $100 in addition to the cost of the glass.

they still shatter into tiny pieces, but do a reasonable job of staying togeather because they are laminated.

depends on where the chip is located, but why replace the windscreen when you can get a small chip repaired for $50 or so with lifetime warranty?

Wow, that's cheap. Mine uses the 'standard one type fits all seal', looks quite good actually. Mazda charge $58 now for the OEM seals, still rip off though.
