NA Diff

Postby corners » Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:32 pm

Hi all

I have an NA6 with standard diff. I am looking at upgrading to the NA8 diff.

I know what bits are required, my only question is, will my current LSD centre in the NA6 diff fit in the NA8 diff?

Cheers
Jaron

Hmm

Can anyone recommend a good lsd centre?

Maybe I will stay with my NA6 diff a bit longer. I will miss the LSD....

well, you could always try to sell the NA6 LSD & diff. To recoups some of the cost. I'm sure there would be plenty of takers.

A full conversion would be around $1500-$2000 depending on where & how you get your bits together. Minus whatever you get for your bits.....

If you can wait a few months I will be selling a 1.8 conversion with clutch type LSD fitted...it's a Kaas or Cusco something like that...not sure which one yet as it's still in the car...

Probably will be asking a bit under $2k for it.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

When you do the upgrade, if at all possible I would try and stay with the 4.3:1 ratio so the car doesn't lose acceleration, or it may take some of the fun out of the car.

jcs86,

You can buy my disassembled Mazspeed LSD for $400 which will drop straight in to your car and keep the 4.31 ratio.

Or you can buy a 1.8 rear end with LSD and refit a Mazda Bravo or Ford Courier 4x4 front diff which is 4.4, figure 2K for the 1.8 bits $300 for the new ring and pinion and $500 to fit and install 4x4 ring and pinion. Do it all at the same time and you'll be up for around $2800 Do it one at a time and your up for 1K more.

Been there done that

I was planning on getting a 1.8l rear end keeping the 4.3 ratio and putting a decent lsd centre in and then selling all the 1.6l bits

I've got an 1800 diff/tailshaft/driveshafts with a TorSen II and 4.3:1 ring gear, it's brilliant, couldn't be happier. Give Richard at MX-5 Plus a call and he should be able to get you sorted.

my prices were:
1.8 open diff and shafts (installed by Dodgy Sab and Dodgy Andrew) - $500
Baba's Torsen - $600
wrecker 4.44 diff - $250
so $1350 in parts.

cost of never getting around to installing the diff: :( Worthless. (Still, I sold the torsen and 4.44 at cost)
