MX5 Racing's Yellow Roadster Coupe

Postby mx5racing » Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:51 pm

Back in July last year we were able to secure this 2004 Type A coupe from Japan. Normally a damaged car like this would not interest us but our guy in Japan was able to do a full inspection on the car.

Eventually it got to Australia and we stripped it our for a full inspection

This inspection revealed the r/h chassis rail had pushed back into the drivers compartment.

At this point it was decided to do a \"sectionalised repair\" by splitting the car at the front join and fitting a new front to it.

A donor car was found in a 2003 NB2 that had been rolled.

Then it was a matter of cutting and joining...........

then as they say in the technical books........ refitting is the reverse of removal....

We will keep you posted as the car is finished off..........

Hot damn... I'm waiting for the day when I see this in the flesh.

Incidentally, what're you doing with the NB8A rims from the donor car? :P

They're not NB8A rims, they're from the 2002 model year auto, same design but smooth clearcoated finish

Pity these things are so rare, because I'd love to see that as a race car. 8)
