If its what Im thinking the \"MX5 Mania ECU\" is the originally named SP Motorsports ecu.

If so I have the original spec one in my car cant complain it does eveything I needed it to and more.

Depending on your application Id say

my car runs the Mania ECU and I'm very happy with it. The person that tunes the car also builds the ECU and runs his own software with great results.

Is this the crazy software engineer that does it as a side hobby or something? I'd really like to meet the guy and see if he'd be willing to train me or something :)

....and tell you all his trade secrets and tricks ? Not likely sonny jim.

Just like one of my customers who asked me exactly what I'd done to his phones software to fix it. I politely told him I don't disclose the fine details of my repairs.

Sounds like an interesting piggy back.

Does anyone have any photos and/or specs?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I was thinking more as being his sidekick, rather than stealing his ideas and setting off on my own.

I have a standard compression NB8B that has a mania ECU. I got mine second hand off Rodd Clarke and from what I'm told it was one of the first. I've had it upgraded to run a MAP sensor and the firmware upgraded so not sure how it compares. On the standard ECU my car struggled a fair bit with the Racing beat 4-1 headers and ram air intake. The mania ECU gave it a great deal of midrange clout. Much more than standard. It might do wonders with the SVT but overall the seat of the pants driving doesn't feel that different anywhere else. Car makes about 91kw atw Daniel said but I never had a shoot-out run for the graph. The ECU was upgraded by their hobbyist with a soldering jobby.

I don't know if that's still the case? I think Dave has taken on most of the tuning these days.

Ah and I may have been wrong about Fuzz's car, it may have something else in it, but I'm sure mania tuned it.

Dave mostly works with Wolf ECU's as most people want a familiar brand and Dave's always on hand. Mania ECU's are done by Walter and he needs to be booked in advance. Mania ECU's are VVT capable with the majority of R&D coming from BJ and Dave's cars which are both weapons I believe.

Daniel at Mania is also very cluey about their ECU.
I have one on my SP, and it works very well.
I now have no stumbling at all, even when backing off under boost, and the car starts within a second of being turned over - hot or cold.
I did have a couple of minor issues with it, and these were the ones that you can only find by driving the car for a while, and Daniel pulled out the laptop, connected it up and we went for a drive, and he fixed everything on the spot and didn't want to charge me for it either.

I can't give you an opinion on how it worls with a NA engine, but going by what my experiences are, I'm sure they can make it do whatever you want it to.

The people wanting acess to a name brand computer is interesting...

How do you go about a re-tune if mania ceases trading, or you have a falling out with them, or if they have a falling out with Walter & Daniel?
