Ride height - WOOHOO!!! :D
Attracted a little bit of attention this morning - might have to do something about gaining a bit of height. (and I was most definitely behaving myself)
Anyone got some spare (mid height) springs I can borrow (temporarily) if needed???

I guess I take it for granted that the people around here most likely to be able to assist (or laugh) also know I have a NA16.....
I have some std height springs at home that would suffice if I ever get sent to the pits, but for everyday - who wants to look like a 4wd?

Middle is exactly what I'm thinking (hoping that even that's not too low)..
I was simply driving through a roundabout - heard the siren and politely stopped - got out and asked 'is there a problem officers?'
Officer driving simply said you car looks very low. Crawled under with his little book as a guide, and said - yes - it is very low. Even with the turbo badge etc, the only interest was in the ride height.
I told him (quite rightly) it's always been like that - seeing as it pretty much has been low since I bought it. It is possible that it have sagged over the years, so I'm not really fazed - just a little well - put off - I quite like the aggressive stance it has at current height.
No ticket - I was polite and agreeable - so just a caution (the advice that he'd normally put me into visit the pits), and the suggestion that I rectify within the obligatory 28 days..... seeing as I am driving through this part of the world a bit for work at present, and am likely to be seen by this officer again.....it might not be a bad idea (plus I do get a little tired of speedbumps and driveways posing a challenge)......

you were always a chance of getting done with that thing so low mikey, you've had a good run anyways, & like you said, speedhumps & driveways are a pain

yea mine have sagged dramatically over the years
This was posted by MX5 racing a while back I remember my vertical measurements were a fraction lower than that when The Koni & kings were originally installed about 8 years ago. That was on the lower perch
it might be of some help. Its in the sticky on top of the page in this section. It might be of some help. If you want it legit......

Suspension heights are are calculated via a vertical measurement from the wheel centre to wheel arch.
These measurements are specified by the vehicle manufacturer at the time Aust Compliance is granted. A new vehicle data sheet (NVD1) is issued to the various State/Territory rego authorities. The NA6 NVD1 is known as MAZDA 26 and states the following -
A NA standard is 350 mm front and 370 mm rear. Minimum allowed is 320 mm front and 335 mm rear.
The 100 mm rule is minimum ground clearance for any item (except wheel/tyre).
A lot of aftermarket suspension kits drop the cars lower than minimum spec. .......
Road Vehicle Descriptor (RVD1) sheets replaced NVD1 sheets in 1999. They gave additional information including measurements at full bump and minimum ground clearance (101mm). The last one issued for the NB8B series was RVD1MC-152 issued 20/11/2003.

yes Muz, he's WELL below 100mm
I think its a little more complicated than that. I think its all about the free suspension travel before hitting the bump stops as well as having a minimum clearance of 100 mm.
When i re-registered patchy a few years back after being in storage for a year the guy doing the blue slip said I was just on the limit of 100mm. I doubt he would have measured the suspension travel. Its been raised since then.

Im at about 300mm front and rear! I thought that the only rule was the 100mm rule, better get the measuring tape out tonight and have a look.
