Are we allowed to paint the number plate on the car?

Has anyone tried to use a bike rack plate as their front number plate? These are seriously small. It's technically an rta plate - I wonder if the wording of the offense might provide a loophole for this..... hmmm

I've got a stick-on front plate from National Flags & Signs at Geelong. Looks very legit - no problems at least and it's far easier than mesing around with metal plates.

Very easy in NSW if you are happy to be a bit dodgy.

Go to your Local RTA and complain that someone has stolen your front number plate. They will give you the option to:
A - Get new general issue plates
B - Have your current plates remade.

Take option B. The RTA employee will then tell you to make sure you keep the rearplate on the vehicle, and will charge you a minor fee for the remake of your new plate.

Upon payment of the fee you will get a recipt which becomes your get out of gaol free card. When pulled over, explain that you had the plate stolen and show plod your reciept explaining you are wating for a replacement. For the added dodgy touch photocopy the recipt and take care to make sure the date is obscured, making it a timeless get out of gaol free card.

It's probably not fraudulent as you are not lying that you had to get the plate remade - but use at your own risk :shock:

I know someone who did exactly that. He had an argument over it with a friendly police officer, who promised to fine him for it.

Fine never came...

What's happenned to him? Haven't heard of him or the car in ages? Was one of the few turbo'd NB svts back in teh day, helped things move along at a rapid pace.
