boss frog arms - who has used them?

Never tried them but they certainly look the goods.

But how does it affect the crumple zone Mazda kindly built in to save your life in a front end collision?

very true garry. I was thinking of making something similar out of carbon fibre with a honeycomb core. It is much more rigid but will shatter in the event of a crash - maybe if i cross my fingers and toes.

looks very very heavy..

there are jap ones available which are much lighter.
