Hi everyone,
I have been giving some thought to a new set of wheels for my 94 NA.
I would like to go for a 60's vintage look.
Have been looking at Superlites and may even consider wire wheels.
I also like the cobra wheels (found on replica kit cars) but don't know if you can get them to fit a MX5.
Not too sure on sizes, don't want to go much bigger, maybe 15', but I may stay with 14's.
Please share your advice on sizes, styles, and list good an bad points etc.
Thank you
Peter
Wheel advice with a vintage look, please help.

There was a post around some time ago about the vintage japanese racer look... but that doesn't seem to be what you'd be looking for
Personally I don't think wire wheels suit the MX5 there was a forum ride that used to have wires but I'm having trouble finding that one too... it's abit TOO retro
Ooop... here it is
Superlites to me still look the best without going to the Vintage JDM look
The right set of Watanabes/Superlites still make the best visual impact... generous dish and don't need to be too big (15s can look perfect)... just a cursory glance in the \"show us your wheels\" thread will give you an idea
But if you were to go Japanese vintage look...
Longchamp XR4? any of the Work Equips that get your eye
PS Wire wheels would be insanely good fun to clean

For a proper oldskool jdm look you can't go past watanabes but they can be expensive and hard to find in nice offsets and widths.
If you like superlites, check out rota RB's at www.18racing.com
Much lighter than superlights, my 15x7's are 6.2kg on a reliable scale and even the +35 offsets have a nice amount of dish.
For about $900 delivered, I reckon they are great value and really suit a NA.

If you like tinscfi's style of wheels, then check these out.
Panasport wheels
They have been on sale for quite a few months, so it may be worth negotiating as no one seems to be interested.
If you want something like that, but onshore, MX5Plus in Brisbane has a set and he will definitely ship them to you very cheap.
They also just added these:
BBS
These are supposed to be the lightest wheels that came in any MX-5 variant, standard.

Thanks for the heads up Juffa.
Too big for me!
15's is the biggest I want to go.
Great looking wheels though!
