This is the weekend after the NSW club does their Wakefield day isn't it?

Will see how things are panning out at work for taking a day off. The NSW club's track day sounds pretty full on with three events on a Sunday, and since I've only done one track day, I'm a bit apprehensive about attending that one.

Is the format is just an open track day?

I'm interested to see how you go on the track with those tyres too. You'll have to let me know if I don't end up at this track day.

Hmmm, considering this. Thats nice and cheap. Circuit Club is the day before but costs $180, its more entertaining though. If all goes to plan should have turbo by then.

Will there be official timing?

Is there a date we have to register by?

Oh yeh everybody should come, no excuse, Wakefield is dirt cheap, a fantastic way to spend a day with your car and your mates. Its a really safe track, its really really hard to hit anything on the track, usually if you stuff up you won't even leave the road at all, can't really say the same for other tracks (EC and concrete comes to mind). Its not a competition either so just go at your own pace.

If you think its expensive put it this way you get over 2 hours track time (split up) for $110. Go karting (at ec) is $85 for 30 mins so for 2 hours that's $340! Wakefield is more fun and way more comfortable. If you think \"well I can just drive fast on the street for free\", there is no comparison, the track is heaps faster without the drawbacks of danger and fines. You can learn and breach the limits of the car with no problems at all, that can't be said for the street, ever taken a corner flat at 160k without dying?

Long sleeves, long pants, closed shoes, helmet (can hire), sunscreen/hat and aerogard is all you need, oh and a car with petrol in it.

There is no better way to learn how to drive properly. No matter how much you read and hear about it nothing beats practice and experience. Don't be a ricer, learn to drive better and have fun!

I recommend driving down the night before and staying at a hotel so you don't have to leave at 6 in the morning, the rooms are pretty cheap. It takes 2 hours to get there, so you really need some sleep because after racing all day you'll be buggered then have to drive home.
And try and bring a friend to keep you awake on the trip or share the driving, and to time your laps if there's no timing, also makes it more fun.

From memory last time there were other cars not just mx5's, there was a mazda 2, so I'm not certain but you could probably bring other cars. The MPS cars are good, but any car is fun to track. Just make sure you have good brake pads and fluid and a wheel alignment.

There's not usually official timing for these type of things. You can however bring a stopwatch (or your own lap timing gear).

The Mania track days have always been good fun though. Even without timing it's a great chance to practice your driving and you always get heaps of track time (in fact turbo people will want to bring extra fuel). In fact, without the pressure of timing it's a good time to actually concentrate on driving right - finding the right lines, brake marks, etc.

Are any of the race cars coming Ajay? They're always good to watch flying past. :D

 yeah... oops indeed. You cut our round short too dammit! :P

Anyway, I should be locked in for the club's Wakefield track day, so I dunno about going again so soon and needing a day off work to boot. Will think on it some more and see where it lands me.

Gavin I thought you were going to the Club's day? Two in one week, your tyres are gonna hate you.
I'll most likely come to this day, but can't be certain 'till a week or two. If it starts getting full put me on the list.

IDB000 are you going to come to this one too? I'd be good if we all went, make a good day.

Gerard
